This video shows my Unreal Metahuman workflow for applying motion capture, animating with a custom body control rig in Maya, adding custom clothing and round tripping facial animation from Unreal to Maya with custom tools.
The character in the test is a Uyghur man wearing traditional doppa and shirt. Shirt embroidery was designed by Amara Javed. Learn more and support the Uyghur people in their struggle against genocide.
Tools:
Additionally, I have created a suite of tools for sending assets, hair, skeletons, animation, cameras, alembic etc from Maya to Unreal called mgTools. http://www.madguru.com/mgtools
This is a tool that can be run in Autodesk Maya to create a Body Control Rig for animating Unreal Engine Metahumans in Maya. This can be used to keyframe animate Metahumans and apply motion capture to be exported back to Unreal Engine. Includes IK/FK limbs, finger and toe controls. Includes IKFK Match tool and Face Control labels. Works with Maya 2018-Maya 2026 and beyond. Supports Metahumans from UE 5.7 using the combined skeleton build. This contains two tools. One for exporting face animation or mocap from Unreal Engine and another for applying it to the Metahumans Face Rig in Maya for further animation or motion capture work. It can then be applied to your Metahuman character in Unreal. UE5 through UE 5.7 support added. Usage: https://youtu.be/ecYO5-5fL0U
This is a tool that can be run in Autodesk Maya to transfer animation or motion capture from a custom rig or skeleton (Mixamo etc) to my Metahumans Body Control Rig or the Drv skeleton that comes with Metahuman rigs in Maya. Usage: https://youtu.be/JSN5tQUKvwE
