After a breakfast of naan and chanai, my cousin picked us up and we head to Mughalpura. It is sweet to see my relatives and enjoy a nice meal together. In the afternoon, we head over to Shalimar Gardens. I’ve been here a number of times over the years, but this time there had clearly been a lot of improvements in terms of preservation and care. There are an unending number of problems in Pakistan, but to see these efforts, and places where people can come and relax is really a beautiful thing.My adventurous baaji crawled over and around all kinds of barriers to spots she wasn’t supposed to go to. It was pretty funny to see her giddily enjoying herself and showing us sections we would not have seen otherwise.In the evening we head back and met up with some new friends at Anarkali for some dinner. Somehow, even when away from my work, new leads come up and the process continues, bit by painstaking bit.
